On Saturday night Addison Groove Project will perform publicly for the first time since 2007 when the modern funk-fusion band reunites for one-night-only at The Paradise in Boston. The group formed in the late ’90s when many of the members attended Wellesley High School together and crafted an inventive sound that mixed their influences. AGP made a name for themselves thanks to relentless touring and great songwriting as well as their mind-blowing live sets.

AGP will be joined by HT contributor Wyllys on Saturday who will not only spin sets before the band goes on stage and during setbreak, but will also handle lighting duties. Jambands.com’s Mikey Greenhaus recently spoke with Addison Groove Project’s Rob Marscher and Brendan McGinn about the band’s past, present and future including word of what to expect at Saturday’s reunion show. Marscher shared a teaser video with us from the band’s first rehearsals in over five years…

Tickets are still available for the return of AGP at Boston’s Paradise on Saturday. As part of our Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away program, we’ve got a pair of tickets to the reunion show as well as a show poster signed by the band for one lucky reader. Since the performance is just two days away, this will be a quick one. Simply leave a comment below telling us your favorite AGP memory or if you haven’t seen them before, why you’d like to. We’ll pick one entry at random around 3PM ET on Friday and we’ll alert the winner immediately thereafter. The winner will receive a pair of tickets and the signed poster. Good luck!

HT Giveaway: Phish Chicago ’94 / T-Shirt Bundles

Written by on 07.17.2012 | Features, Giveaways, Phish

In just a few short weeks, on July 31, HT faves Phish will release a brand-new 6-CD box set that features two incredible shows which took place at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion in 1994. Chicago ’94 contains every note the Vermonters played on June 18, 1994 and November 25, 1994, including material from the soundchecks, lovingly re-mastered by sound guru Fred Kevorkian.

1994 was an incredibly important year in the band’s history as their fanbase grew exponentially. Musically, the quartet was on fire with these two performances ranking among 1994′s best. From an outrageous David Bowie to a masterful YEM to a spectacular segue from Weekapaug > Mango, these two shows display the improvisational muscles the band was flexing throughout the year. Not to mention, there’s nary a flub to be found during the UIC gigs, plucked from Phish’s last full year on the road. Both the 6-CD box set and a special Pollock designed t-shirt are currently available for pre-order through Dry Goods. There’s also a “Racine Avenue Bundle” which contains both the t-shirt and the box set that’s up for sale. Speaking of which…

Tech Tuesday: SuperTooth Disco Bluetooth Speaker & Giveaway

I am pretty excited this week.

First, I absolutely love finding products that hit the sweet spot with quality, design, and price all coming together without sacrificing anything. Additionally, I have been on the quest to find a portable speaker with impressive results for quite some time. I was not very happy with the Jambox as the sound was relatively dull and the price excessive. Other portable Bluetooth speakers I have tried have been more reasonably priced, but not offering much in the way of sound quality. High priced speakers like Dr Dre’s beatbox at $400 is simply laughable at the poor quality sound for the price. Novelty solutions like the iFrogz Boost or the Boomb(())x are certainly fun and have their place, but again, don’t offer high quality sound.

This week we will take a look at a portable Bluetooth speaker that offers fantastic sound quality, is extremely reasonably priced, designed well and a perfect companion for your laptop, tablet, MP3 player, mobile phone or even as a substitute for desktop speakers. The SuperTooth Disco offers 28W of pretty impressive sound via a 12 watt subwoofer and two stereo drivers. With a built in battery that can play for up to ten hours and wireless streaming with Bluetooth, this is the mobile speaker I have been looking for.

Also, I simply love giving away cool devices that we find on Hidden Track to our readers and sharing the sound. Read on to win a SuperTooth Disco and learn why I was so thrilled with the performance of this speaker!
