Tour Dates: Vote For Change In Philly

Written by Some Dude on 10.03.2008 | AA Bondy, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis, Tour Dates, U-Melt

In what’s become a regular occurrence in the weeks leading up to this year’s election you can pencil in another rally, this time in the potential swing state of Pennsylvania. Tomorrow, on the Streets of Philly, Bruce Springsteen will headline a Vote For Change Rally at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 20th and 22nd Streets. The Boss will entertain the crowd with a special solo acoustic set along with other performers and speakers. Free tickets are currently available to all Pennsylvania residents and students.

If you don’t reside in Pennsylvania, then maybe you’ll can hit one of these recently announced tours instead…

Finally, after taking over the Catskill resort Kutsher’s a few weekends back, the organizers of All Tomorrow’s Parties have announced that the extremely well-received event will return to the retro-kitschy hotel over Labor Day weekend in 2009. The event will follow the same format: Friday featuring Don’t Look Back sets and a comedy curated stage, Saturday to be curated by ATP and Sunday by a special guest curator who will be revealed in the coming weeks. Early bird tickets are now on-sale at atpfestival.com.

Wednesday’s Intermezzo: Gilmour Said No

For those of you who had been holding out hope that Pink Floyd would reform with David Gilmour on guitar and Roger Waters on bass, we’ve got some bad news. Gilmour told the AP: “”There have been all sorts of farewell moments in people’s lives and careers which they have then rescinded, but I think I can fairly categorically say that there won’t be a tour or an album again that I take part in.”

Gilmour explained that while he enjoyed playing Live 8 with Waters in 2005 the rehearsals reminded him why they had a falling out in the first place. Bummer!

What’s not a bummer are these terrific links we’ve found…

Finally, Rose Hill Drive will once again cover an album in its entirety on New Years Eve at the Boulder Theater. This year, the boys tackle Led Zeppelin II after doing a wonderful job with Aerosmith’s Toys In The Attic on 12/30/2007.

Man Attacks Oasis In Anger @ V-Fest

Written by Scott Bernstein on 09.08.2008 | Oasis

Whenever Oasis takes the stage you never know what’s going to happen next. On Saturday night in Toronto at the V-Fest, a man ran onto the stage and pushed Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher to the floor before taking a shot at singer Liam Gallagher. As NYC-area sportscaster Warner Wolf likes to say, “let’s go to the videotape:”

You’ve gotta give the Oasis crew credit for breaking things up rather quickly and getting the band back on stage after a 15 minute pause. Both Liam and Noel were fine much to the dismay of Oasis haters around the globe. Head to the NME’s website for an eyewitnesses account of this incredibly crazy ordeal.

Tour Dates: Oasis To Play Rare Club Gig

Last week, Oasis kicked off their brief, mostly Canadian-centric North American tour with Ryan Adams & The Cardinals. Before the Brit-rockers head back across the pond for a lengthy UK run, they will play a rare club gig on September 12 at New York’s Terminal 5 - which will be reconfigured for the occasion. The band plans to showcase songs from their upcoming album Dig Out Your Soul (which will hit streets on October 7) for fans lucky enough to get in.

Tickets are only being made available through a special on-line registration process - which ends this Wednesday at noon. Ducats will run 50 bucks a piece, with a limit of two - so good luck.

If the Brothers Gallagher brand of Brit-rock isn’t for you, than maybe one of these recently announced tour will be…

Finally, our favorite accordion fueled Americana band The Felice Brothers will spend the next two months on the road for a cross-country headlining tour. The band will bring their signature brand of boozy, bar band Americana with like-minded folk-roots acts AA Bondy and Deer Tick will splitting support duties. The group wrap the tour with a special stop at the traveling Spiegeltent on November 2, with a show that will close out the venue’s New York City season.

Pullin’ ‘Tubes: 99 Problems, But Noel Ain’t One

Written by Some Dude on 06.29.2008 | Jay Z, Oasis, Pullin' Tubes

A few months back Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher singled out Jay Z as the reason that this weekend’s Glastonbury festival didn’t sell out - claiming there was no place for hip hop at the historically rock heavy festie. While the rap impresario did issue a response, he saved his real retribution for his performance last night.

To open his headlining set Mr. Carter strolled onto the stage with an electric guitar strapped on as the strains Wonderwall played behind him and with a sly smile led the crowd in a sing along of Oasis’ ubiquitous hit. Check it out…

Noel clearly needs to learn a couple of things: first, never get involved in a land war in Asia, and a close second is to never get into a feud with one S. Carter.
