Last month Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players made their late night television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman with Stevie Nicks singing You Can’t Fix This. Next week, the group will return to the late night airwaves as the musical guest of Jimmy Kimmel.
Jimmy Kimmel Live will team with Sonos to present a Sound City Players performance on Hollywood Boulevard this Tuesday, March 5. The version of the Sound City Players that will play includes all of the Foo Fighters, Rick Springfield, John Fogerty, Rick Nielsen, Lee Ving, Krist Novoselic and Alain Johannes. You can expect to see at least one of the songs the ensemble plays on Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Event producers expect 10,000 fans to attend the concert.
Dave Grohl brought his Sound City Players ensemble to New York City this week for a show before a capacity crowd at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Wednesday night as well as the group’s network television debut on Thursday. For Wednesday’s show, Grohl brought together members of the Foo Fighters, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, John Fogerty, Rick Springfield, Fear’s Lee Ving, Alain Johannes, Chris Goss and Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine for the marathon performance.
Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players project made their network television debut last night, when the ensemble performed You Can’t Fix This on The Late Show with David Letterman. Stevie Nicks recorded the original You Can’t Fix This with the Sound City Players for the Real-to-Reel album which was inspired by the Sound City documentary and is due out next month.

Earlier this week tickets for Dave Grohl and the Sound City Players’ lone New York City gig sold out with a quickness. The show will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom on February 13th and while in town Grohl will make a pair of television appearances in support of his directorial debut.
Grohl and the Sound City Players, along with Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, will make their network television debut on the February 14th episode of The Late Show with David Letterman. Letterman has never hid his love for Grohl’s music even recruiting the Foo Fighters to play Everlong on his first show back after heart surgery, referring to it as “my favorite band playing my favorite song.”
Dave will also visit The Colbert Report on February 13th to discuss Sound City.
Last night the Sound City Players rocked Hollywood with a lineup featuring Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters, Rick Springfield, Krist Novoselic, Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty as well as members of Rage Against The Machine, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Cheap Trick. The guests shuffled in and out to play the songs for which they’re best known as well as cuts from the Sound City soundtrack. On February 13th Grohl will round up the members of his supergroup to perform at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. There’s also plans to play a batch of international shows and a SXSW showcase, according to Grohl. Tickets go on sale February 5th via Ticketmaster.
