At long last there’s a way to ensure your offspring are hip to the latest in indie-rock at a young age. For his final project at England’s Huddersfield University, Andy J. Miller created Colour It (Red) a coloring and activity book inspired by songs from his favorite indie-bands such as Beirut and TV on the Radio. So dress your kid in some tight jeans and an ironic t-shirt and let them have at it.

Finally, as part of their 20th anniversary celebration venerable indie label Sub Pop is reintroducing it’s Sub Pop Singles Club for a limited one-year run. For just $75, each month you’ll be mailed a brand new 7” single right to your door which will feature the likes of Black Mountain, Black Lips, Arthur & Yu and more. In addition to the wax you’ll also receive a code to download each album as well. Not a bad deal if you ask us. Better act soon though, we’d guess that subscriptions will be going fast.
We’ve got some more details about Sub Pop’s 20th anniversary festival that will be taking place on July 12th and 13th at King County’s Marymoor Park near Seattle.
The seminal indie-label has revealed the initial line up that includes current label artists Fleet Foxes, Flight Of The Conchords and Iron & Wine. Also on the bill will be the reunited Beachwood Sparks, Green River and label staple Mudhoney. Discounted single-day and two-day passes will go on-sale on April 26th.

If an indie-rock festival in the Pacific Northwest isn’t your idea of fun then maybe one these newly announced tours will get ya goin’…
Let’s end with a note for my mom, as her favorite artist Neil Diamond (and probably every Jewish mom’s right?) will hit the road for 37 city North American tour in support of his latest Rick Rubin produced album, Home Before Dark. The tour, which consists predominantly of arena shows, will include a notable performance at Boston’s Fenway Park on August 23rd. So do your mom proud, and grab her some tickets to see Neil for Mother’s Day. It’s the least you can do.
Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly squeeze another festival into your busy summer concert calendar comes the news that influential indie-music label Sub Pop will be hosting a festival in celebration of their 20th anniversary. While nothing has been officially set, here’s what we do know (via Seattle Sound):

* The festival will officially take place July 12 & 13 at the 640-acre Marymoor Park in Redmond, with performances going both day and night
* Bands performing will cover the history of the label’s roster, including two reunion performances. One will be the much-ballyhooed return of Green River. The second, according to this recent news story from the Denver Post, will be the Fluid, Sub Pop’s first non-local signing from way back in 1985.
* There will likely be a Sub Pop comedy night at a yet-to-be-named venue separate from the music festivities.
* There could possibly also be some shows at clubs around Seattle leading up to the festivities, though details on this were very vague.
This is certainly a nice twist on what is an already packed festival season, and Sub Pop has quite the impressive roster of artists to choose from.
