As we reported last week, Newport Folk Festival organizers have been revealing the acts set to perform at this year’s event slowly but surely. The latest additions to the fest’s lineup are HT faves Michael Kiwanuka and The Lumineers as well as Houndmouth and The Last Bison.
The 2013 edition of the iconic Newport Folk Festival takes place July 26th through July 28th at scenic Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island. You can still buy passes to each of the three individual days as well as two-day passes, but don’t expect them to be around for very long. Be sure to keep your eyes on @NewportFolkFest for additional lineup reveals.
Current buzz band The Lumineers are the latest addition to the Mountain Jam 2013 music festival lineup. Mountain Jam organizers revealed the news via a posting on their Instagram page. The ninth annual Mountain Jam fest will take place at Hunter Mountain in Hunter, New York from June 6 – 9.
The Lumineers joins a power-packed Mountain Jam 2013 lineup that includes HT faves Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh and Friends, Gov’t Mule, Primus, The Avett Brothers, Gary Clark Jr., Deer Tick and ALO. Tickets are currently available through the Mountain Jam website.
While the 38th season of long-running music television program Austin City Limits hasn’t finished yet, the show’s producers already have their eyes on Season 39. Today, a batch of tapings for next season have been announced featuring a few HT faves.

Thanks in part to their ubiquitous catchy shout-along, foot-stomping single, Hey Ho, The Lumineers emerged as arguably the biggest break-out act of 2012. The Denver-based band’s music was seemingly everywhere, from television shows to commercials to a healthy dose of radio play, helping the folk-pop act sell nearly 700,000 copies of their self-titled debut. The band, who have also been nominated for two Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Americana Album, are looking to have an even bigger 2013, as yesterday it was revealed that they will be the musical guest on the January 19, episode of Saturday Night Live, which will be hosted by Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook).
The Lumineers will follow their appearance on the long-running late-night sketch show with a brief six-date headlining tour, which brings them to New York’s cavernous Terminal 5 for a two-night stand on February 1 and 2.
In 2011 The Head and The Heart were one of the bigger success stories of the year, impressing with their infectious brand of Americana-infused folk-pop. If you’re looking for the next band that is primed to break-out in that genre, look no further than The Lumineers, who describe their music as “an amalgam of heart-swelling stomp-and-clap acoustic rock, classic pop, and front-porch folk.” Earlier this month the Denver-based band put out their self-titled debut and have released this video for the album’s catchy shout-along, foot-stomping lead single Ho Hey. Let’s check it out…
The Lumineers are currently on the road, and will also hit the summer music festival circuit hard with appearances at Hangout, Summer Camp, Wakaura, High Sierra and All Good.
