Phil really needs to lose this Jackie character- Also, where's all that primordial trippiness he got back into a few years ago when playing the Beacon and Hammerstein?

I feel ya—great and really fun times. Last night was a solid show—really, a pair of "first sets" instead of set 1 and set 2, but with lots of stirring moments all the same—and really bolstered with a Joan Osborne appearance. She was only out for "Sugaree" but she looked like she was having a ball, and though she didn't emerge for the encore Phil still announced her with the band intros and she came out for a hug and a curtain call.

The band is definitely tighter this year, but I'd agree on the rawness. Last night was my sixth and likely final Phil show of 2008 and there have been some zenith moments in every one of 'em, but I still haven't seen them as good as 11/11/07.

I have been to 3, with 2 more to go. I haven't caught a Sless show yet this run, I'm looking forward to Sunday. I will say that while the band is tighter this time around, the 2007 run was raw, energetic, and at any time you could be in the middle of a three set show. The RA sit-in on 11/5 was one of the most exciting Phil shows I have ever seen. I'm still waiting for a moment like that during this run. That being said, these are still fun great times!
