Congratulations: Perpetual Groove Repeats as Cover Wars March Madness Champ

We’d like to congratulate Perpetual Groove for winning our Cover Wars March Madness tournament for the second year in a row. The group’s cover of Macca’s Live and Let Die had a tough road to the title this year as it was selected as a “play-in” contender putting it at the bottom of the bracket, but they came out on top no matter which HT fave they went up against.

PGroove’s Live and Let Die beat classics such as Hey Jude by Wilson Pickett, The Band’s Baby Don’t You Do It and Ramble On by Phish before handily defeating It Makes No Difference by My Morning Jacket in the finals.

Last year, Perpetual Groove won the title with their cover of Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place) by Talking Heads following Mr. Blotto’s take on 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover taking the inaugural Cover Wars March Madness crown in 2009.

Thanks to all of our readers who took the time to vote in any or all of this year’s matchups. As for Perpetual Groove, the band has a handful of gigs on tap before returning to Cherokee Farms in La Fayette, GA for their annual Amberland festival over Memorial Day Weekend. An all-new season of Cover Wars kicks off shortly with a look at different versions of Layla.
