Cover Alert: Bob Seger – California Stars (Wilco)

Detroit native Bob Seger kicked off a six-week tour last night with his Silver Bullet Band at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. Among the 24 songs Seger performed was a cover of California Stars from Wilco and Billy Bragg’s Mermaid Avenue album.

Video has surfaced of Seger’s horn-augmented version of the tune…

  1. Thanks for the share–love it!

One small thing, I’m pretty sure the third song played was “Fire Down Below.”

  2. Don’t you think it should be noted that this song was originally written by Woody Guthrie and was finished by Wilco & Billy Bragg and that Mermaid Ave. was a project dedicated to putting music to some of Guthries unfinished work? Or is that not worth noting?
