I heard the Xavier Rudd version one night at home on Digg radio. Blew me away. I'll have a listen to the other versions here as well.

The '67 version of JH in Stockholm is still my favourite rendition of this song. It highlights the magnificent voice and intensity of the artist :)

Another sick version of the Ribot take on Wind Cries Mary can be found on his album "Yo! I Killed Your God." An album which has Chris Wood (MMW Chris Wood, not Traffic Chris Wood) on electric guitar. I think that version would get more votes if you point out that it's also on an album with that sick title (and sick jazz bassist dropping guitar in an avant-garde punk band).

Also, why doesn't Ribot have tour dates in North America any time soon? C'mon maaaaaaaan.

Gracias.

And for what it’s worth, they were featured in the Star Spangled Banner (JB) and were the winners of the Can’t Find My Way Home Edition:

Yeah, they're tough that way. They don't make it easy to find that stuff...they usually have it rigged so you got to pay for it if you want to listen to it! I was half-joking, you know how it goes with Panic covers...I am sure several on your list are as good if not better than the one I know. Keep fightin' the Wars!

Well Widespread sure would make it easier if they allowed their recordings to go up onto the Live Music Archive, so they showed up when I search for the songs...

Additionally, of the torrents currently up on bt.etree.org, there is no Panic show where they play Wind Cries Mary.

Those are the first two places I check.

The answer to these questions is usually Widespread Panic, but rarely are they one of the choices...WTF?
