We’ve got two bits of Ween-related news this morning to share. First, as we mentioned earlier this week, Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman was a featured guest on comedian Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. Today, the episode featuring Gener  - which was recorded before Freeman announced his departure from Ween – went live today. Head over to WTFpod.com to listen.

In other news, Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo recently updated his Facebook status with word that he’s not only working on a new Moistboyz LP, but he’s also working on a new solo album. Moistboyz, who last put out an album in 2005, features Melchiondo partnering with collaborator Guy Heller. The band has released a total of four records starting with a self-titled joint in 1995.

Here’s the full status update from Deaner…

I just signed the lease on my first ever recording studio post Ween and am about to start moving in all of my equipment. Guy arrives in the middle of the week and we start working on the new Moistboyz album. This new space is MASSIVE and also has a full 3 bedroom house attached to it. I am working on 2 new albums simultaneously, the Moistboyz album and my new solo record (which project doesn’t yet have a name). I’ve been recording a song a day for the past few weeks and already have a pretty good bunch of tunes compiled. I don’t wanna say too much about it because talk is cheap, suffice to say that this is all very exciting and the music sounds killer, TONS of guitar going on. I’ve cleared my fishing schedule pretty much clean for the next couple of months except for my prior obligations and am 100 percent in rock mode right now. More to come on this as it develops………….
