One of the busiest bands this festival season has to be Ohio jammers The Werks who are set to perform at North Coast, Wakarusa, All Good, Summer Camp and at least 11 other festivals over the next four months. The Werks will also throw a festival of their own, the Werk Out Festival, on September 8 – 11 at Zane Shawnee Caverns in Bellefontaine, OH. Dark Star Orchestra, EOTO, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Donna Jean Godchaux Band, Johnny Neel, The Floorwalkers and the Family Groove Company are among the groups scheduled to perform at Werk Out with DSO set to play a historical Jerry Garcia Band show, for the first time, along with vocalist Donna Godchaux.

One of the best parts of Jam Cruise is the Jam Room where the boat’s musicians come to improv late at night. While there’s some wankery to be had, you’ll find plenty of magical moments on the newly circulated recordings from Jam Cruise 9′s Jam Room sessions. Wally Ingram hosted the action on January 5 [FLAC, MP3, STREAM], George Porter Jr. led the jams on January 6 [FLAC, MP3, STREAM], Big Sam tackled hosting duties on January 7 [FLAC, MP3, STREAM] and Steve Kimock was in charge on January 8 [FLAC, MP3, STREAM]. Jam Cruise’s 10th voyage will leave Port Everglades in Florida on January 9 for five days of music from the likes of Umphrey’s McGee, Galactic, 7 Walkers, Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers and The New Mastersounds. After what event promoters described as “the strongest pre-sale” to date, JC10 cabins are now on sale to the general public.
