Marley classics dot this gorgeous recording and conjure up visions of Jamaican afternoons spent drinking rum and doing other things Jamaicans do. Easy Skanking, Kaya, Time Will Tell and Smile Jamaica highlight a stellar album top to bottom. A perfect choice for being outside as long as the humidity doesn’t choke you to unconsciousness.
3. Michael Jackson – Off the Wall
Before the terrifyingly white and ghostly appearance, child molestation lawsuits and exile as a pedophile, Jackson was the master of feel good music. In 1979, Jackson released this gem featuring some of the best dance music ever. Don’t Stop Till you Get Enough, Rock with You and Off the Wall will still yank you out of your chair and drag you to the dance floor.
4. The Temptations – Number 1s
Motown seems to be a quick remedy for a sourpuss. Songs like The Way You Do the Things You Do, Ain’t to Proud to Beg, Happy People and of course, My Girl can bring a smile to anyone’s face, regardless of age.
5. The Beach Boys – Endless Summer
Released in 1974, the album has more hits than Brian Wilson has personalities. Pet Sounds is clearly the Beach Boys best album but this one is loaded with the catchy tunes that will make you grin. Surfin’ Safari, Little Deuce Coup, Fun, Fun, Fun, I Get Around, Help Me Rhonda, and of course, California Girls are hard to resist with the sun shining down and a cold beer in your hand.

The Beach Boys are perfect for the summer. I always like the Allmans on the 4th too.
Nothing says summer like the Beach Boys and Bob Marley. Nice list Luke.
