Friday Mix Tape: 4th Of July Jams

I’m busting my proverbial cherry this week, first with a B List and now with my inaugural crack at a Friday Mix Tape. This one should be perfect to throw on while your grilling up some dogs, crackin’ open your favorite bevie and watching fireworks.

We kick things off Cody ChessnuTT’s ’70s afro-funk, pro-Obama jam Afrobama then move into what will sure be the indie-rock anthem of the summer from the greatest bar band in the world The Hold Steady with Constructive Summer. From there we keep the hard rockin’ drinking vibe going with Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers from ZZ Top. Broken Social Scene calls Canada home, but 7/4 (Shoreline) just seemed like an obvious choice, this is a live version from last year’s Lollapalooza. We finish things off with one from a band out of the City Of Brotherly Love – Dr. Dog with a new jam entitled The Ark and we’ve also got Simon & Garfunkel with American Tune from their concert in Central Park.
