Friday Mix Tape: Best Archival CDs of 2010

For this week’s mix, I’ve compiled six songs from albums which made our Best Archival Releases of 2010 list. Here’s your chance to get a taste of these wonderful releases; all of which need to be in your collection.

We start off with the solo acoustic Baby, Let Me Follow You Down demo from an album we thought was the best archival release of 2010 – Bob Dylan’s The Witmark Demos 1962 – 1964.  Next, Delaney, Bonnie and Friends with Eric Clapton treat us to Comin’ Home off of On Tour With Eric Clapton. From there, we turn to Widespread Panic for the instrumental LA courtesy of the Widespread Panic Archives release, Johnson City 2001. Gov’t Mule kicked off a new archival series with the release of Mulennium, which included a blistering take on End of the Line. We turn to Phish with guest Gordon Stone for a gorgeous Fast Enough For You from the band’s Live at St. Mike’s LP. Finally, The Doors give us Crystal Ship off of Live in Vancouver, 1970. Enjoy these samples and buy the albums!
