Friday Mix Tape: MMJ Double Dip
As we prepare for My Morning Jacket to own our collective faces at Radio City Music Hall this evening, let’s start the day with a mix of live tunes from the gents. The first mix is full of originals, while the second mix features a varied assortment of our favorite MMJ covers. Man, it’s gonna be tough to get any work done today.

I couldn’t resist picking my favorite MMJ song, Anytime, to start the mix strong. Next, we mellow things out with Golden, which gives way to the orgasmic tones of Touch Me I’m Going To Scream Pt. 2. I’d really like to see Cobra tonight, so I threw that into the compliation before closing the mix with mindblowing versions of What A Wonderful Man and Off The Record.

READ ON for the second part of our FMT featuring seven terrific covers…
Let’s move on to the covers, all of which come from a fabulous three-part compilation put together by the fine folks over at the MMJ forums. This unprecedented bonus Friday Mix Tape starts off with a cover of VU’s Head Held High and the Stones’ Loving Cup. I’ve also included rippin’ versions of Don’t Fear The Reaper, performed with Wilco, and Wonderful Tonight from last year’s prom. As you can imagine these guys do a bang up job with metal covers including Black Sabbath and Highway To Hell. Finally, you just gotta hear MMJ take on The Who’s A Quick One.
