Earlier this week, people around the country came out in record numbers to elect Barack Obama the 44th President Of The United States in a landslide. While the President-elect doesn’t get sworn in until January 20 of next year that won’t stop us from celebrating the victory around here. So with that in mind, this week’s Mix Tape is dedicated to the former Junior Senator from Illinois. Just a warning though folks: things are going to get funky…

We kick things off with Cody ChessnuTT’s afro-funk, pro-Obama anthem – Afrobama – which makes its second Mix Tape appearance. From there, we’ve got George Clinton and Funkadelic with their seven plus minute unifying jam One Nation Under A Groove. After that, we’ve got back to back covers. First up is Sharon Jones with a funkified version of Woody Guthrie’s This Land Is Your Land, then we’ve got Solomon Burke tackling Sam Cooke’s poignant classic A Change Is Gonna Come. Next, we’ll revisit a song that we featured earlier this week: Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are A-Changin’. This version comes from Zimmy’s Live at Budokan album. Finally we close things out with one from some of President Obama’s biggest supporters and an act hails from his current hometown of Chicago, we’ve got Wilco with Wishful Thinking. As always, enjoy…
