Friday Mix Tape: Shuffle Up & Deal

No grand theme for Mix Tape this week, but this one is inspired by a feature that I used to be a fan of when my friend was writing for Best Week Ever’s blog. The basic gist is to hit the “shuffle songs” button on your iPod and see what it spits out and post in the comments section. I know, really complicated, right? But it tends to lead to some interesting results, especially when you have a 60 gig iPod that is jammed packed with tunes. So let’s shuffle up and deal and see what the ‘ol iPod has in store for us today…

First up is Amy Winehouse with the remixed version of  You Know I’m No Good that features Ghostface Killah from Back to Black. From there, we’ve got Cornershop’s sound collage State Troopers (Part I) from Spin’s 1997 album of the year When I Was Born for the 7th Time. Next up is One Hundred Years From Now from The Byrds’ seminal country-rock album Sweetheart of the Rodeo.

Then we kick it old school with Etta James and Tough Mary off of At Last! After that is singer/songwriter Josh Rouse with Rise off his fantastic 1972 album. Finally, we close things by getting the Led out with The Rover from their double album Physical Graffiti. So now it’s your turn leave your first six shuffled songs in the comments – and remember, no cheating.
