Having just finished Greg Kot’s fantastic (though outdated) book on Wilco called Learning How To Die, I’ve got Tweedy and Co. on the brain. For this week’s Mix Tape I put together a mix featuring the original versions of six songs Wilco covers.

We start off with a song that hit Tweedy hard following 9/11 – Bill Fay’s Be Not So Fearful and continue with I Love My Label by Nick Lowe – a song Wilco recorded as the B-Side for their first self-released single. Next we turn to HT faves Steely Dan for Any Major Dude off of Pretzel Logic. From there, Gram Parsons gives us One Hundred Years From Now, which Wilco recorded for the Parsons tribute disc Return of the Grievous Angel. Finally, Big Star kicks down Thirteen and we end with I Shall Be Released off The Band’s Music From Big Pink.
