Many of us are getting our #couchtour setups ready for Phish’s show tonight at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vermont and wondering how else we can help out the Green Mountain State recover from Hurricane Irene. Besides the proceeds from the webcast of tonight’s show, there are plenty of other ways to get involved, albeit from afar.

One way to stay on top of the recovery efforts is by monitoring Twitter. Tweets containing the hashtags #VTrelief, #VTrecovery and #VTIrene are useful in keeping up-to-date with instant updates from the field. One of the best accounts is this informative and alert feed VT Response (@VTResponse) which rapidly transmits alerts and requests for various types of aid.

Below is a list of organizations, people and websites and their Twitter handles that are actively involved in the #VTRecovery, we urge you to follow them and get involved in any way you can. Vermont gave us Phish, it’s only right for us to give back to Vermont.
