Giveaway: Umphrey’s McGee @ The Blender
As another Rocktober starts to pick up steam, plenty of New York City jamfans are looking forward to next week when Umphrey’s McGee hits the Big Apple for the MoogFest and three headlining gigs at the intimate Blender Theater. The Chicago-based sextet always seems to take it up a notch for their fall tours, and according to the reports from UM’s brief jaunt through the midwest this past weekend, Fall Tour ‘08 – which kicks off tomorrow at Park West in Clifton Park, NY – should be no exception.

My favorite time of year to see a show is definately during the summer. The big festivals is where its at. I saw McGee last year at Mt. Jam and they were awesome.

Outdoor concerts are my fav, so I’m saying July.
October 12th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Rocktober, of course!
October 12th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
What a great question. While you can beat catching a concert on a gorgeous summer day, I personally enjoy a crisp fall day on a college campus the best. When I went to Penn State I saw so many outrageous shows in the fall.

I love seeing concerts on New Years Eve. Great blog, by the way!

my favorite time of the year to see music is definetely summertime. beautiful weather and great music are one of the best combinations in history. plus i love raging festies!!!!
October 12th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Summer is my favorite time to see music because of festies! Who doesn’t love them? It’s usually a 3 day rager!
October 12th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Anytime in the winter. You get to warm up a little before the show with a few drinks and then the band just brings the heat. After being in a hot venue with so many people… that first breath of cold air just caps off the evening.

The way my schedule is, my favorite time of year is when I actually have the time to see shows. And this year, it’s fall!
October 12th, 2008 at 1:32 am
Springtime. Nice and cool outside, drives aren’t too bad either. School is winding down too so you get even more excited!
October 11th, 2008 at 1:00 am
I love seeing shows in the fall or winter, because it’s nice and cool out after seeing a show in a hot venue.
October 9th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
summer festival season, warm weather now work the next day and great outdoor live music. plus girls are wearing less clothes
October 9th, 2008 at 11:22 am
no question the summer is the best – something about being outside in the warm weather jamming out
October 9th, 2008 at 9:52 am
summer for roadtrips and festies… everyone is out and about.
October 9th, 2008 at 12:46 am
Summer – because outdoor shows are the best
October 9th, 2008 at 12:46 am
January because that’s when real fucking bands play, not like these hippie bullshit bands that think New Year’s is the end of the season.
October 8th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
November is my favorite. I always look back to The Phish Assembly Hall shows as a formative concert going experience, and Phil is keeping that spirit alive at the Nokia!
October 8th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Winter, when you sweat so much inside that you’re positive you will pneumonia when walking outside.
October 8th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
My favorite time to see music is New Years Eve. It’s honestly one of my favorite times of year. Every band plays their heart out during this time period. Since we’re staying in NY this year we’ll be able to catch Bisco, Mule and U-Melt all in one week! And at the end of it all there’s a lot of balloons, confetti and champagne!!
October 8th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
I enjoy the hell out of summer shows when all the festivals are in full force. Sun on your face, your buddies jammin’ next to you, and a cold brew in your hand….nothing like it.
October 8th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
I love any time of year when I get to see Brendan!
October 8th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
UMPHEBRUARY!!!!!!!!!! Flew from NY to San Fran in february this year for the three night run at The Fillmore and it was SIIICK
October 8th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
I love going to see live music in the fall! It’s especially nice when there’s a slight chill in the air, and it smells like leaves, and syrup, campfires…just thinking about it makes me smile!!
October 8th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
My favorite time of the year to see Umphrey’s is winter tour. I go to the show underdressed for the weather, expecting it to be hot as balls inside, dancing during the show, sweating all over. Then, walking outside and the chill of cold air sweeps me back to reality.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
December, ie – New Year’s Eve
October 8th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
April. Nothing like a crisp sunny afternoon to catch a band outside.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
july. even though i prefer indoor arena shows, i love the summer as the days get longer and sitting on the lawn running my feet through the grass.
