God Street Wednesday: GSW in Relix / Lupo’s

After a shortage of GSW news and recordings over the last few months of 2009, 2010 begins with tons of hope and promise. Longtime HTer Randy Ray penned an article on God Street Wine for the Rearview Mirror column in the February/March 2010 issue of Relix. Randy brings us up to date on where the boys are at now and talks to Lo Faber about the band’s history.

You’ll have to purchase the magazine for the whole wonderful article, but we love Lo’s final quote – “Hopefully, within the next year, something will happen.” While we were happy that our dream of God Street Wine reuniting was fulfilled a mere five months after the debut of God Street Wednesday: Bring Back GSW, it was due to the unfortunate passing of original taper Paul Ducharme. We’d love to see the original members get back together under happier circumstances for a tour and the lucrative festival appearances they deserve…or a show at Brooklyn Bowl.

In the meantime, Michael Weiss continues to keep us satiated with a flood of terrific YouTube videos from the band’s heyday. One of his most recent uploads features all of GSW’s show at Lupo’s in Providence, RI from March 11, 1995. We assembled a playlist of all the clips including the Ballroom opener, a raging Wendy and a gorgeous Into The Sea for your viewing pleasure…

  1. that was a great show and a killer week! Was going to Bryant like 10 mins away from Lupo’s and it was the start of spring break. School was empty, but a few of us stayed for the GSW show that night. Then jumped on Dead tour 🙂

Can’t believe these vids surfaced 🙂 ahh, to be young again!
