Godlike Genius Johnny Marr Jams With Ronnie Wood on The Smiths Classic How Soon Is Now?

NME gave The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr its Godlike Genius lifetime achievement award tonight in London and he made it worth the magazine’s while when he performed a six-song set that included The Smiths’ classic How Soon Is Now? Marr was joined by Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones and Justin Young of The Vaccines for How Soon Is Now? which The Smiths rarely played live between its debut in 1985 and Marr’s departure from the band in 1987.

The Rolling Stones nabbed two awards – Best Live Band and Best Music Film (Crossfire Hurricane), but Wood didn’t perform with his main band on this night. Instead the evening belonged to Marr who recently released The Messenger – his solo debut. Marr’s set also included a cover of I Fought The Law. Take a look at Johnny performing How Soon Is Now? with Ronnie and Justin Young…
