The initial lineup for the 2012 Hangout Music Fest, which will be held on the sandy beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama from May 18 – 20, was announced via the festival’s Facebook page in the middle of the night and the headliners include new solo artist Jack White, musical legend Steve Winwood, PollStar’s Top Grossing Act of the ’00s Dave Matthews Band and Colorado jam band String Cheese Incident, who are set to play two sets at the event. Promoters promise to announce another headliner this week and more acts in the coming days.

Advance three-day passes go on sale this Friday, February 10, for $194. The price jumps $15 soon to the “regular” price of $209. VIP passes, Super VIP passes and Big Kahuna passes are also on sale through the event’s website. 2012 marks Hangout’s third year on the scene. Trey Anastasio, The Roots and The Black Crowes headlined the inaugural event in 2010, while Paul Simon, Widespread Panic, Foo Fighters and The Black Keys were atop the bill in 2011.

Jesus Q Christ! I’m 50 years old and this piece gberbad me by the back of my collar and yanked me back 30 years!The description of the guy apartment took me to Bob’s, where there were more cords than there really oughta be anywhere. The bathroom was disgusting, but the beer was plentiful, the music was Motown or reggae and Bob was always generous with weed. Many a spur-of-the-moment 3 am bass fishing trip was born at Bob’s. I miss Bob.The description of the girl apartment makes me think you were looking in my windows in 1981. The alpha girl was Clara, the hey, gal-pals! let’s decorate with scarves and Mardi Gras beads! girl was Eileen. I just kept my head down, paid my share of rent and utilities and tried to organize little things like bins and in-out boxes for mail and messages. Clara and I were nodding acquaintances in high school but didn’t have much in common until we both discovered that while Eileen was tolerable in small doses in social settings, we loathed living in the same house with her. Eileen would eat an entire bag of chocolate chips and then say, I didn’t know you planned to do anything with them! I do not miss Eileen.
