New York City’s Meatpacking District ain’t just for drugged-up clubbers anymore. Nope, now it’s for drugged-up music fans as well.

The Highline Ballroom — owned and operated by the family behind BB King’s and the Blue Note — will mark its grand opening on May 1. And so far, the bookers have done an incredible job, securing some big name acts for its debut.

moe. will play three nights at the Highline on May 3-5, the Greyboy Allstars will play two nights on the 12th and 13th and the Disco Biscuits will set up shop for a two-night run on May 24th and 25th. Throw in one-off shows from the Jazz Mandolin Project, Mos Def, and Meshell Ndegeocello, and I’m not sure if these guys could have booked a better first month. Beginner’s luck, eh? We’re pleased as punch.
