We’re pretty geeked up about heading down to Austin City Limits for the first time, and truth be told, nothing can hamper that virginal geekery.

But it’s been a tough week for those of us traveling to the Tejas festival, as three acts we really wanted to see have used the Pull Out Method. First Amy Winehouse bailed, then Rodrigo y Gabriela said “hasta luego,” and now comes word that “medical reasons” have forced the headlining White Stripes to take a pass (from their late-night Stubbs show as well). Eh, who needs’m?

On the bright side, I guess this means one of the biggest conflicts has been resolved — the crowd around Arcade Fire’s set will be Texas-sized after all.

Slade Sohmer

In 2006 Slade Sohmer founded Hidden Track along with current EiC Scott Bernstein. Slade ran the site until 2008, establishing a scope of coverage and level of professionalism that still exists today. In 2010 Sohmer founded HyperVocal with Lee Brenner and the "purveyors of the vital and viral" have gone on to create a network of highly acclaimed sites that includes Headlines That Suck, Weeping Elvis, Distriction and Spike The Water Cooler.
