HT Giveaway: Addison Groove Project Reunion Show
On Saturday night Addison Groove Project will perform publicly for the first time since 2007 when the modern funk-fusion band reunites for one-night-only at The Paradise in Boston. The group formed in the late ’90s when many of the members attended Wellesley High School together and crafted an inventive sound that mixed their influences. AGP made a name for themselves thanks to relentless touring and great songwriting as well as their mind-blowing live sets.

AGP will be joined by HT contributor Wyllys on Saturday who will not only spin sets before the band goes on stage and during setbreak, but will also handle lighting duties. Jambands.com’s Mikey Greenhaus recently spoke with Addison Groove Project’s Rob Marscher and Brendan McGinn about the band’s past, present and future including word of what to expect at Saturday’s reunion show. Marscher shared a teaser video with us from the band’s first rehearsals in over five years…
Tickets are still available for the return of AGP at Boston’s Paradise on Saturday. As part of our Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away program, we’ve got a pair of tickets to the reunion show as well as a show poster signed by the band for one lucky reader. Since the performance is just two days away, this will be a quick one. Simply leave a comment below telling us your favorite AGP memory or if you haven’t seen them before, why you’d like to. We’ll pick one entry at random around 3PM ET on Friday and we’ll alert the winner immediately thereafter. The winner will receive a pair of tickets and the signed poster. Good luck!
I think I saw these guys perform back in the 90s at a restaurant/venue in the North shore (MA). I would love to see them this weekend in Boston.
I have not seen AGP live, but remember getting some of their MP3s through Napster in the 90s. I love funk/groove and would love to dance the night away with AGP!
Never seen them before, but I would like to because:
a. I feel the funk
b. As a general rule of thumb, if you have the word Groove in your band name, I will probably like it
I’ve listened to AGP songs before, but didn’t know they were from Wellesley, or the bands history in terms of breaking up and this being a reunion show. In any case, I grew up in Needham right next to Wellesley, and any show that’s a first time back in a while is going to come with some awesome energy. Hopefully the guys will be happy to be back, because I shall be happy to hear the Groove.

I saw their “farewell” show at the Paradise a few years ago,and had my ticket signed by the band. That was a show I’ll remember for the rest of my life. High energy, great setlist & great time spent with family. Brothers, cousins & uncles all made it out, and it made for a GREAT night. Do me a favor and make this Saturday even greater!!
I’m a big fan but have never seen them live. Seems like this it teh best chance!
Haven’t seen em
But I love me some Funky Grooves!
Juniper was the first song to really get me excited about the “scene” back in 8th grade…i missed teh show five years ago and can’t wait to make up for it on saturday
Seeing them light up the Higher Ground with the Charlie Hunter Trio. 30 or 40 minutes of blazing hot improv.
I never got a chance to check out AGP as I discovered them when they weren’t touring anymore. I have been waiting for a chance like this, especially in my backyard at the Paradise…if only I had tickets so I could share in the groove!
Remember sitting in Harvard Square during either Thanksgiving or Winter break 2000 waiting to see AGP at the old HOB. 3 of us sitting in the car and only had 2 tickets and none were around since it was always a big reunion for bands friends etc. Ended up throwing numbers with buddies and I got lucky and wasnt shut out. Great show, hoping to get lucky again and see them this Saturday night
I’ve never seen AGP but I remember being introduced to the Orange Album by a college roommate who’s sister went to Brown Univ. He raved about the album after he bought it during a show and I’m still waiting to see AGP for the first time!
So happy that these guys are getting back together for a show, been a long time, would love to check them out
