There’s no denying that it’s been already been a long and brutal winter here in New York City, and we’re barely a week into February. There is really only one thing that will keep our seasonal depression to an minimum and that’s getting out and listening to some feel-good music. Who better to provide the tunes than the funky Meters? The New Orleans-based act is guaranteed to help you forget about those large piles of gray slush and mystery puddles, with their brand of Big Easy ass-shaking music.
Next week, the legendary N’awlins funk act will take up residency at Brooklyn Bowl for a three-night stand from February 15-17. Tickets for the show will run you just $22, but with our latest installment of the ever popular Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away program we’ve got TWO PAIRS of tickets to giveaway. To enter, simply leave a comment below telling us what your favorite food from New Orleans is, and which night of the three you’d like to attend. Those found entering more than once will be tarred and feathered. All entries must be received by Sunday, February 13th, at 11:59PM EST. We’ll pick the winners randomly shortly thereafter. Good luck!
A few rules…

Tough choice.. lots of classic creole and cajun food. Gotta go with a big ol’ bowl of gumbo with shrimp and andouille. Mmmm!

2/17!
Gotta love the crawfish monica at the fairgrounds during fest. Nothin’ like a backyard crawfish boil in the crescent city by one of the locals or a Domilise’s Po Boy. But hands down, the best dish I’ve ever tasted in New Orleans is the barbecued shrimp at Pascal Manale’s!!! (2-17-11)
I can always nibble on a soft shell crab Po’boy..YUM…
but the Crawfish Monica or crawfis Etouffe..makes my mouth water!! mmmmmmmmmmm! 🙂
Oysters, for sure. On the half-shell, po’boy, rockefeller; I don’t care how you prepare ’em; they’re always the bomb!
And I happen to have first-hand experience with the Oyster po’boy at Brooklyn Bowl; awwww yeah!
Catfish Po Boy….Wit a side of Hush Puppies!! The 17th will fit right into my schedule…Sign me up for SOME FIYO IN BROOKLYN!!!
Sleepy alligator…in the noon day sun. 2/16 please!
Quail Gumbo. Can only make Feb 15
Cochin de lair po boy. I dream about those things.
Wednesday, 2/16
Po Boys are my favorite food in New Orleans/the world.
I have eaten at “fine dining” restaurants all over NOLA, NYC and elsewhere and without a doubt there is nothing better than a good po boy – preferably with fried seafood (oysters and/or shrimp) from Mahony’s, ACME, Stanley, Johnnys, etc..
I would LOVE to see the Meters on Wed 2/16
Crawfish Etouffe.
Wednesday 2/16
alligator/sausage cheesecake from Jacques-Imos Cafe, NOLA
Feb 15th Please
Blackened anything at K-Pauls, always good.
Feb 17th
Mr B’s gumbo….so yummy
Tues Feb 15
Those Cochon de lait po boys at Jazzfest, Thursday 2/17
Shrimp po-boys at Domilise’s in the Irish Channel (ask a local, the shop is John Goodman’s favorite) or a Debris sandwich at Mother’s on Poydras. Hard to stop at just two… My pick is for the 17th (closest to my wife’s birthday), but we’d do any of the three really!
Po Boys by far
And I’d love to see em’ on thursday da seventeenth
