Nearly all of the bands within the jam scene have performed at Brooklyn Bowl even though many of these acts could fill much bigger venues.
A notable exception is Umphrey’s McGee, but that will change this Monday, January 31st, when the Chicago-based sextet takes the stage at our favorite room in New York City. UM packed the much larger Best Buy Theater last night at the band’s long-awaited return to the Big Apple. Guitarist Brendan Bayliss announced Monday’s show during the break in the Nemo opener at the Best Buy show to huge applause and thoughts of fried chicken.
Tickets for Umphrey’s first-ever Brooklyn Bowl performance went on sale at noon on Saturday and are expected to go quickly. You must be 21 and over to attend and showtime is listed at 9PM. We’ve got a pair of tickets for one lucky reader as part of our Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away program. To enter, simply leave a comment below telling us what cover you’d like to see UM play at the Bowl. It could be a song they’ve played before or a cover debut, your call.
A few rules…
- To enter the contest, leave a comment below telling us what cover you’d like to see Umphrey’s McGee perform at the Brooklyn Bowl
- Your comment(s) must be left by 11:59 AM EST on Jan. 31st
- Anybody found entering more than once will be disqualified, tarred and feathered
- One winner will be selected at random from all entries
- The winner receives a spot on the guest list with a “+1”
Due to the quick turnaround time, we’re asking our readers to only enter if they are fairly sure they can attend. We’ll pick the winner shortly after noon on Monday and we’ll get in touch with the winner immediately thereafter. Good luck and see ya at the Bowl on Monday to celebrate UM sound caresser Kevin Browning’s move to the band’s headquarters.
