HT Giveaway: Win a Phish Joy Box Pt. 3
Recently, Phish announced pre-order details for one of the most ambitious merch products they’ve ever created – the Joy Box. This monstrous limited edition box set includes the CD plus 10 posters dedicated to each one of Joy’s 10 tracks each designed by a different artist, an extensive hard-bound booklet, as well as a “complete second album” called Party Time along with a DVD featuring some of Phish’s live performances from the first half of 2009.

As we told you last week, we’ve got two Joy Boxes to give away and you’ll have eight chances to enter our sweepstakes. Today, we’ve got our third question of eight and each answer you give will count as one entry in the contest. That’s right, you can enter eight times by answering all eight questions. Just follow the rules below and we’ll announce our winners on 9/28:

a band in todays music industry that truly enjoys what they are doing and are doing it well. refreshing, brings my joy…
The music brings my girl and me together, even though we currently live on separate sides of the country. That and the joy of rocking out to some phunky grooves.
One time when I was crossing the Robert Moses Bridge on the way to the beach, listening to Halley’s Comet, a strange feeling of utter happiness took over, and i was left with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. No other group of musicians (aside from the Dead) has been able to do that.
Goosebumps. That shit gives me goosebumps sometimes. And if you’ve never experienced a nibble on your back when you have goosebumps, you’ve never experienced joy!
[...] Joy Box Giveaway: Question #1, Question #2, Question #3, Question # 4, Question [...]
The excitement I get from expecting the unexpected.
With so much going on in my life (personal, professional, family, etc.) their music is able to combine it all into one singular and on-going experience that stands as a record of all that’s gone on (shows, friends, memories, landmarks…) all new and great to relive too.
Phish tunes bring me joy by reminding me of the unadulterated sensation of fun I experience when seeing them live – unless I’m actually seeing them live at the time, in which case, I experience the joy rather than being reminded of it ;)
The feeling that I got at Hampton ’09, upon their return, was like a goosebump incited panic attack then the utter explosion of the built up tension inside the mothership during the openning notes of Fluffhead was unreal. The energy and excitement that Phish provokes is unparrelled!
Like a lot of people, I have seen a lot of music and artists and a lot of different stuff, but the first time I saw Phish….I had no idea something like this could exist. It automatically put me in this space, it gave me a chilly feeling that I will never forget. It is hard to explain…just incredible. That’s why people say..you either get it or don’t
No other band brings a wide beaming, stupid, smile to my face like Phish. Period.
just the sound of their songs brings me joy, they are a happy band and not afraid to show it.
When the music reaches that certain point where you feel like the rest of the world falls away. Pure bliss.
Phish music brings me joy in many ways, but the first that comes to mind is the way that it brings me together with friends over and over again.
I like how during shows the band feeds off of the crowd and in turn the phans feed off of the jamin. its a very beautiful symbiotic experience. No other bands do that.
The tune, I am Hydrogen, always brings a smile to my face.. I feel like I’m a little hydrogen molecule floating around in space.
The music of Phish brings about a happiness I have never felt before with any other artist. The unique sounds of Phish changed my life for the better. That is how their music has brought me joy.
It has always been the sections of tension and release. I love the build up during the jams.
Phish has brought so much joy into my life over the years, but having the opportunity to share their music with the woman I love has brought that joy to a whole new level. Seeing her dance nonstop for the whole Darien Lake show, this past August, to the point where she had blisters on her feet after the show was – to quote MasterCard “PRICELESS”!!!
The various ways that you can get lost in the flow of the music really do it for me
Phish’s music brings me joy by allowing me to enter a world that only I can experience, and channeling the emotion of the music through my body, whether its the sheer ecstasy of a sublime “Hood” or the emotional heartstrings of “Slave” or the straight-up rawk of “Bowie”.
Phish allowed me to be myself. As a confused teen, Phish showed me a different path musically, socially and mentally. Still today in my late twenties, when life seems to big and scary, Phish levels me out and allows me to see the joy of life.
Getting goose bumps at a live show…….hell, I am getting them just typing this!
Phish brings me Joy because it’s just positive creative and challenging music.
Phish brings me joy because even though they are classically trained and serious musicians, they always were full of whimsy and a jokey atmosphere. The early 90′s was all about grrrrrreat music and happy feelings!
