HT Giveaway: Win A Phish Joy Box Pt. 4
Recently, Phish announced pre-order details for one of the most ambitious merch products they’ve ever created – the Joy Box. This monstrous limited edition box set includes the CD plus 10 posters dedicated to each one of Joy’s 10 tracks each designed by a different artist, an extensive hard-bound booklet, as well as a “complete second album” called Party Time along with a DVD featuring some of Phish’s live performances from the first half of 2009.

As we’ve mentioned over the past few weeks, we’ve got two Joy Boxes to give away and you’ll have eight chances to enter our sweepstakes. Today, which is the actual release date for the album, we’ve got our fourth question of eight and each answer you give will count as one entry in the contest. That’s right, you can enter eight times by answering all eight questions. Just don’t get greedy and answer the same question twice. This contest will run until September 25, 2009 at 11:59PM.
Just follow the rules below and we’ll announce our winners on 9/28:
- To enter the contest leave a comment below telling us about one unreleased Phish song that should’ve – or still should – be released on a studio album
- All comments must be longer than 10 words and shorter than 50
- Your comment must be left by 11:59 PM EST on Friday, Sept. 25
- Don’t be greedy, only one entry per person, per question
- Winners will be selected at random from all entries to all 8 questions
- Winners receive one copy of the Joy Box each
So there you have it. As you see, question #4 is “What unreleased Phish song should’ve – or still should – be released on a studio album?” Keep on checking Hidden Track for question #5.

Tube. A Nice short sweet little tasty funky tube.

I have to go with Tube. It could never be the same as a live version, but I would love to hear it drop in full studio brilliance.

Possum

First one to come to mind for me was Possum. Sounds too much like Skynyrd’s Swamp Music, but I’d like a prefected studio version nonetheless.

I would love to hear Phish release NICU on a studio album. It’s one of my favorite tunes.

I am still disappointed that we did not get a Camel Walk on this most recent tour, but if they were to release this track as a studio cut it would just be pure funk!!!

Possum. One of the first songs that I couldn’t get enough of.

Runaway Jim. You can never go wrong with “Runaway Jim”.

It is hard to pick a unreleased song to be on a new album since I only want new songs on new albums. One exception is Glide II or “Flip” This song could be re-recorded and fit somewhere on some album in the future.

I would choose Tube. It is a difficult song to play and could be done perfectly in a studio. The dissonance that Trey creates and that beat would be perfected in a studio version.

Phish should release Runaway Jim. It’s such a classic and it deserves the studio treatment.

I agree with “Timber Ho”. And it would be interesting to hear “Brother” on record.

I would love to hear Page’s voice crystal clear mastered on “TELA”…the wind from beyond the mountains… : )

Mike’s>Hydrogen>Weekapaug. Such classic tunes that need to stick together. Would love to hear a studio version maybe as a EP.

I Saw It Again

I will have to go with “Possum”, for it is the 4th most played song (31% of shows), and has been kicking around live shows since 1985. If you need additional convincing, I will challenge you to find a version EVER which is not rocking…

i was gonna say Vultures, but then I thought Gumbo. That needs to be on a studio album for sure.

i would love to hear PYITE on a studio album. It is one of my favorite songs. Interested to hesr what a studio version would sound like.

There’s a lot I’d like to see, but to start with, The Sloth.

Harry Hood would be great! I love the sound of Mike’s bass in that song. It would be interesting to see what they do with it, although I think its an awesome live one.

wow somehow i managed to miss question 4, thanks for recapping. Phish should officially release Halleys Comet. “It’s kind of like rainbows and lots of spaghetti”.

Wow, I don’t know any of their unreleased songs. I guess they should release “Glory Days” that they did with Bruce Springsteen at Bonnaroo this past summer. I know it’s not one of their songs but they did a good job with it.
