HT Giveaway: Win Umphrey’s McGee Hall Of Fame Class of 2011 on Vinyl and Brendan’s Hand-Written Rush Cover Lyrics

Each day this week we’ve been dedicating a post a day to Umphrey’s McGee’s fantastic new Hall Of Fame Class of ’11 release which came out on Tuesday. On Monday, we shared details of the fan-voted compilation including word of auctions for vinyl test pressings hand-designed by the band members. On Tuesday, we posted a stream of the thrilling “Soaring Uplifting Jam” from the release and yesterday we published our chat with the man responsible for much of the production work on HoFCo’11 – Kevin Browning. Today, we’ve got a copy of the split-color vinyl AND a one-of-a-kind piece of memorabilia to give away to one of our lucky readers.

As we’ve been mentioning Hall Of Fame: Class Of 2011 is available as a limited-edition, double split-color vinyl package.  Our legendary Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away program continues today as we give away a copy of the vinyl release and a sheet containing Brendan Bayliss’s hand-written lyrics for Rush’s Tom Sawyer that he used as a guide for UM’s cover of the song at the Summer Camp Music Festival.  To enter, simply leave a comment below telling us about your favorite UM show of all-time. Taper appreciation 04 @ shank hall. What a night. Smack in the midle of our run of shows, just before the epic sUMercamp post tornado set (that lenny still kills me), and only a few weeks before the acoustic Vogue show just before their first Bonaroo performance. What a great time to be a midwest fan. I’ve seen some amazing performances over the years, but 04-05 will always be an era of nostalgia for me.

12/29/2006 at the Aragon in Chicago was easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The setlist was incredible and they played an insane cover of I Want You (She’s so heavy) which led into an unbelievable Glory. The All in Time was one of the greatest i’ve seen to this day, which included a tribute to the recently passed James Brown. It was truly unbelievable.

My favorite show ever was the first show I ever saw at the Nokia Theater on 10-20-07. I went with my friend that night because we decided to check out this band that we’d both heard. We were hooked the moment they dropped into Andy’s Last Beer. The real moment that sealed it was the stew in Mulche’s Odyssey. To this day, I haven’t seen a better jam than that. Needless to say, I’ve seen them any time I could since then.

I am going with 7-03-10 at Red Rocks. They had a good turnout for their first headlining experience at the venue. The light show was incredible and a great flow to the show with the chosen setlist. I can hardly wait for this year at Red Rocks.

My second show and the show when I finally “got” UM. 02/10/2006 at the Rave in Milwookie. The whole first set is amazing. The opening august>lyrical jimmy>august>jam is amazing and feature part of the song spires on it. The Nothing 2 fancy, Great American, and Hurt Bird Bath with zepp teases are fantastic. The bust out SLudge and Death was a treat. This show contains one of my all time favorite jams, the FF. Such a good show, in fact so great that there were two people close to me who started having sex

So many favorite shows… Okay I’ll throw this one a bone. April 3, 2008 The Orange Peel, Asheville, NC kicks serious ass. Need to dig that show out now that I mention it if for nothing else but the DBK.

6.10.01 – Wells Street Arts Fest, Chicago, Illinois when my band was fortunate enough to open for UM. I kept handing Mirro the score of the NBA Finals game that was happening. I helped load out their gear and direct them to the stage area when they still drove the big green machine. Never forgot that set. Never will.

So many good shows! My favorite is going to be one of the Nokia Theatre NYC shows; I’ll go with 2.25.2010, because UM clearly rewarded those who actually came out during the snowstorm!

got a lot of shows that I love on disc, but I am going to pick one that I went to.
I have only seen them around 7 or 8 times, but 8/9/08 in Hiram, ME, for the Upnorth Fest. First time they played Maine, I was with a great friend and the only festival Umphs I have seen. Great show!

Hauntlanta. I’ve been seeing UM since ’02 but didn’t see a show in ’10. I broke my slump with both night. N2 I rode the rail with my wife. A perfect storm of Roc with costumes, mashups, and sweet jams. In the Puppet Kitchen, mind blown.

I’d have to say 1/26/12. Any show is instantly enhanced when it is on a tropical beach with free drinks. Great Conduit 1st set, Girlfriend is Better dance party second set, and a 30 plus minute encore with some great improv to close the night out. My favorite encore I’ve ever seen by any band.

I’d have to say 07/04/12 @ Moonlite Gardens, Cincinnati, OH. This was an incredible show with Andy’s Last Beer being played. Is there a better way to spend your July 4 with friends and family at an Umphrey’s show? The answer to that is: No!

It was the day after Saint Patricks day, the year was 2011, My 2 friends and I spontaneously went to San Diego to see UM play at house of blues, after they played in LA the night before. For some reason the energy was so intense and the crowd was going wild as usual. I think UM had gone surfing that day or something so they were just so tubular that night. I \mm/ keyboard world and all things ninja!!!
