Jay Bennett Passes Away at Age 45
We’re saddened to interrupt a wonderful three-day weekend to share the awful news that musician Jay Bennett, a former member of Wilco, died early this morning. Details are sketchy at the moment but Jim DeRogatis summarizes the situation well for the Chicago Sun-Times.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bennett family. Wilco continues their tour of Spain and Portugal on Monday night in Malaga, Spain. R.I.P. Jay.

RIP Jay. My favorite Wilco gigs were ones in which you played. I hope you finally have some peace.
Since Wilco became everybody’s favorite new jam band with the addition of Nels Cline, it was Jay that built the foundation for some of the band’s most craftiest song moments.
I don’t think he ever got out of being fired from the band, and thne Wilco reaching unparralled sucess without him shortly after. It probably also never sat well with Hay how he was capture din the documentary film, regardless if showing his true colors made him seem neurotic and insecure. Lets hope he moves on and finds a band that will truly accept him..
