Artist & Title: My Morning Jacket – Smokin’ From Shootin’> Run Thru >Touch Me I’m Going To Scream Part 2 > Lay Low
Date & Venue: 2010-08-17 Charter One Pavilion – Chicago, IL
Taper & Show Download: Kelly Casey

My Morning Jacket has been playing an especially interesting section of music recently on their tour that goes a little something like Smokin’ From Shootin’ > Run Thru (end) > Touch Me I’m Going To Scream Part 2 > Lay Low (end). And that generally closes the set when it’s a headlining gig (versus when it’s an opener set for Tom Petty). I got a chance to see it in action last night at Mountain Park in Holyoke, MA and that rendition should probably just be labeled as (Middle only) for the Run Thru section as they did not do the actual ending, probably because of curfew. MMJ next plays tomorrow night at Station Square Amphitheater in Pittsburgh, PA.

In addition to Tim sitting in with Raq that you can hear on the audio embedded above, the inverse also happened with RAQ guitarist Chris Michetting joining The Breakfast:

  1. Tweedy’s solo set was simply amazing, download it just to hear the as always entertaining stage banter, but keep on listening for an unreal set of Wilco classics, rarities and covers – it was the highlight of the fest for me.

  2. completely agree with everything Jeffrey posted. Except, I gotta go with the Saturday night Wilco set as the weekend highlight. But I’ve been listening to the Tweedy set constantly.

  3. Tweedy’s solo set at Solid Sound was amazing, but lets not forget that the Wilco show was waaaayyyy crazier. It may not have had the special guests, but they where simply on fire. They did not have the slow acoustic portion mid show, which they had at the “evening with” shows in the spring. It was straight rocking and we got some awesome treats… .Hell is Chrome, A Magazine Called Sunset, Wishful Thinking, and Cars Can’t Escape and that is just to name a few…. Great Show.

P.S. I was also at the Holyoke MMJ show and that was beyond amazing. Its been a crazy 2 weeks for shows for me with Solid Sound, MMJ, and 2 nights of Phish at Jones Beasch.
