It’s mostly a Rock & Roll recap here at Last Week’s Sauce. Notably, three of the bands (Blues Traveler, Pearl Jam, and Ween) all had their major studio debuts within one year of each other in 1990-1991. We round things out from the likes of jamband supergroup 30db covering Wilco and Keller Williams collaborating with his friends The Keels.

[Thanks to DATBRAD for this week's photo]

And we continue to take all the selected tracks, normalize them, create some simple fades and put it into one easy to download MP3 for you.

Artist & Title: 30db – Handshake Drugs
Date & Venue: 2010-05-22 Berbati’s Pan – Portland, OR
Taper & Show Download: Mark Burgin

In the first edition of Last Week’s Sauce of the month we led off with a couple of tracks from 30db, which would normally mean I would ignore any new tapes that popped up. But a cover of Wilco’s Handshake Drugs is the type of thing we make exceptions for. Brendan Bayliss takes lead vocals on this one just a few months after Umphrey’s McGee debuted their cover of Wilco’s I Am Trying To Break Your Heart on Valentine’s Day. For the time being the full-band 30db gigs have past, but there is still one more chance to see Brendan Bayliss & Jeff Austin play the tunes from One Man Show: Thursday night at Summer Camp at 8pm at the Campfire stage.

Artist & Title: Blues Traveler – But Anyway, Creep
Date & Venue: 2010-05-21 Lupo’s – Providence, RI
Taper & Show Download: Dave Mallick

Blues Traveler delivers a nice 1-2 punch here of one of their biggest hits, But Anyway, and a new cover to their repertoire – Radiohead’s Creep. Listen in between songs as John Popper has some fun with a fan shouting requests. Blues Traveler next plays on Sunday in Simpsonville, SC.

Instead of more show footage, here is a clip from the official Blues Traveler YouTube offering a glimpse into tour bus living:

Keller Williams – Wind’s On Fire, The Switch & The Spur, Sex & Candy
Date & Venue: 2010-05-22 Smilefest – Pinnacle, NC
Taper & Show Download: Jason Cottle

Just yesterday there was a great interview posted with Keller Williams done by Glide Magazine’s Eric Ward. Also, the all-covers disc titled Thief was digitally released yesterday. These three tracks, covers by Yonder Mountain String Band, The Raconteurs and Marcy Playground all appear on the disc – in sequence actually. Keller next plays solo on May 28th at the Bella Madres Music Fest in Geneva, MN. Keller & The Keels play June 17th as part of Nightgrass at Sheridan Opera House in Telluride, CO.

Some video also from Smilefest:

Artist & Title: Pearl Jam – Black, The Real Me, Hunger Strike
Date & Venue: 2010-05-21 Madison Square Garden – New York, NY
Taper & Show Download: t.j.samulis

Pearl Jam, if nothing else, knows how to fucking throw down in the encore slots. This deadly song combination features one of my favorite PJ tunes, a cover by The Who and Temple Of The Dog’s biggest song which features Ben Bridwell of Band Of Horses (who opened the show) on lead vox. Pearl Jam is headed overseas, they next play June 22nd in Dublin Ireland.

We brought this video to you in yesterday’s Hors d’Oeuvres post, but it is too good not to include again here:

Artist & Title: Ween – Reggaejunkiejew
Date & Venue: 2010-05-20 Starland Ballroom – Sayreville, NJ
Taper & Show Download: Mike Salvo

Don’t call them a jamband, but this rendition of Reggaejunkiejew clocks in well over 11 minutes. To be fair, a lot of it is more feedback & noise than it is anything else, but it’s a great rendition. Ween next plays May 30th in Missoula, MT before traveling to their headlining set at the Sasquatch Festival at The Gorge.
