Mike Gordon Band @ Revolution Hall: Setlist

Last night in Troy, Mike Gordon and his five-piece band kicked off a quick March Tour at the sold-out Revolution Hall. For show number one, Cactus and his band mates mixed material from various points in Mike’s career with three covers throughout their two lengthy sets. As far as originals, there was Another Door, Andelman’s Yard, Traveled Too Far, Radar Blip and Dig Further Down from The Green Sparrow; Only a Dream – which the band debuted during their 2008 New Year’s Run as well as Spiral and Can’t Stand Still that the group debuted last Fall. Covers included Rhymes (Al Green), Walls of Time (Rowan/Monroe) and Ain’t Love Funny (JJ Cale).

In the many interviews Mike has given over the past few weeks, he has made it clear this unit is a true band, which was displayed by the Mike Band tackling drummer Todd Isler’s original Kryermaten and keyboardist Tom Cleary’s original Crumblin’ Bones. Cactus and the boys also took a stab at a couple of Phish tunes (Meat, Sugar Shack) and a song from Gordon’s time with Leo Kottke (Middle of the Road).
