Moe.down XII: Bob Weir w/ Levon, Slightly Stoopid, New Mastersounds & Clark

As we mentioned yesterday, Bob Weir will be the Levon Helm Band’s special guest at moe.down XII, which takes place in Mohawk, NY over Labor Day Weekend. The addition of Bobby to the bill was announced in a peculiar video featuring moe. manager John Topper posted on the moe.down Facebook page last night.

Levon Helm Band w/ Bob Weir @ GOTV ’09

Weir and Helm go way back as their original bands, the Grateful Dead and The Band respectively, both performed as part of the famed Summer Jam at Watkins Glen in 1973. A preview of the Levon/Bobby set can be found in looking at the LHB’s take on Tennessee Jed and The Weight at Gathering of the Vibes ’09, in which Helm’s group was augmented by Weir. Let’s also hope that Bobby sits in with moe. as he’s done in the past starting at a Furthur Festival show in Saratoga Springs, NY back in 1997.

Besides the addition of Weir, moe.down organizers also revealed that British funksters The New Mastersounds, Southern California groove-rockers Slightly Stoopid and Austin bluesman Gary Clark Jr. will perform at moe.down XII. Tickets for moe.down are on sale now for $130.
