Monday’s Hors d’Oeuvres: 9:30 Club’s 30th
In May, one of the best indie venues in the country – the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. – will celebrate its 30th Anniversary. Yesterday, the Washington Post ran an oral history of the club featuring quotes from the venue’s founder, Ian MacKaye of Fugazi, Mike Mills of R.E.M., current owner Seth Hurwitz and a number of other figures who played an important role in the history of the 9:30 Club. It’s a great read about a fantastic room.

Finally, Phish bassist Mike Gordon sat in with his old pal – and band mate – Leo Kottke at the Higher Ground last night in Burlington. According to a report from the Jambands.com team, the pair performed William Powell, Living In The Country and Rings during Leo’s set in Mike’s hometown.
