HT faves My Morning Jacket are on a hot streak that has run throughout the year thanks in part of the band’s inventive Spontaneous Curation series in which fans help MMJ decide on the setlist for each performance. Jim James and Co. returned after a mere week-and-a-half break to kick off the second leg of their U.S. Tour last night at Marymoor in Redmond, Washington.

Once again, MMJ filled the setlist with fan selections including rarities Phone Went West, Xmas Curtain, Old September Blues and War Begun. For the group’s encore, which was supposed to contain Off The Record played without its coda but was scratched, the band welcomed out original member Johnny Quaid on guitar.  Quaid sat in on three tunes from his era (’98 – ’04): the title track from 2001′s At Dawn, Phone Went West from that same album and Run Thru from 2003′s It Still Moves.

Setlist: ROLLIN BACK INTRO, WAY HE SINGS, THE DARK, CIRCUITAL, XMAS CURTAIN, LAYLOW, STEAM ENGINE, OLD SEPT BLUES, WAR BEGUN, OUTTA MY SYSTEM, MASTERPLAN, IT BEATS 4 U, ANYTIME, MAHGEETAH, VICTORY DANCE, WORDLESS CHORUS, TOUCH ME PT.2, GIDEON

Encore: AT DAWN, PHONE WENT WEST,RUN THRU (w/ Johnny Quaid)

The tour and the Spontaneous Curation series continues tonight at Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon.
