My Morning Jacket Tinkering With New LP

My Morning Jacket

My Morning Jacket are currently at work on a limit-less new album, says frontman Jim James.

Speaking to a small group of fans at a KCRW concert in Santa Monica, California, the singer-songwriter spoke about his band’s progress, as Billboard reports.

“With My Morning Jacket, we don’t put limits on anything,” James told the audience at Apogee Studios. “(Producer) Joe Chiccarelli gave me great advice: Don’t make demos anymore.”

The goal, he says, is to remove sonic boundaries and simply let the songs evolve organically.

“I loved being the studio building scores, building soundscapes,” James said.

This is very excited news, obviously. James released his debut solo album, Regions of Light and Sound of God, back in February. The last MMJ LP, Circuital, came out in 2011.

  1. Hate ’em. Almost as horrible as “Kings of Leon”. Hope they go “tinker” in their basements and never come out. Sorry.
