Around 5:30PM Music Today started sending out notices of regret and confirmation to those who entered the lottery for tickets to Phish’s comeback gigs in Hampton, Virginia on March 6, 7 and 8. Most folks we know were denied, but ironically our friend Wilson scored ducats to all three shows. How did you fare? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

I got 2 for each night….and know of only one other dude who got the same. I’ve heard over 100K requests…about 3K tickets per show…chances probably in the 3-4% range. Woo Hoo…

This is exactly what bums me out about Phish. Way back in ’98 (OK, that still qualifies as poser time…) it wasn’t too much of a hassle to catch them at least once in a while. Maybe NYE, or the Mothership, but lawn seats were not to hard to score if you were willing to drive 2 hours. Then, about the time they played Radio City, they exploded. All of a sudden it was a total hassle. I love their music, love seeing them live, but hate the process of actually acquiring tix. If they put up a summer tour, I’ll try the pre-order, then maybe stub hub. If neither gets me in for $50, I’ll skip it. Don’t have that kind of bank.

denied… seems a little unfair that most are scoring all three nights. My guess is that they would rather have 12,000 all going to the same shows than 36,000 hanging around the area. The latter scenario will probably be the case anyway.
Denied, everyone I know. 30+ friends, the only one I know who scored tickets is my buddys little sister, she has never even seen Phish before. Holding out for Saturday….. really wanted to feel the floor bounce again at Hampton.

Denied as well. I am really curious if they will (or have even considered) doing the live video simulcast like they did for Keyspan and Coventry last year. Definitely not the same, but it was pretty neat, accessible, and cheap. And a lot easier for those of us out in CA to get a little closer to “being there.” Not sure if the simulcast is something they’d do for these shows, though. Anyone have a clue?

I got denied as well as 15 other friends of mine. My roomate lucked out and got 2 for Sunday, but that’s it. He’s also not taking me. It’s going to suck trying to get tickets for each night, I’m not sure which will sell out quicker. Guess I don’t need to request off work anymore…

Love Phish. Love Sold out Crowds. Would Love to be part of one. Don’t love the hassle. Calling ticketbastard 100 times just to get denied. If anything, it’s the scalpers who have all kinds of technologies to screw the system up for you and me. Wish there was a better way, and in this day and age of internet use, getting charged a “service fee” by ticketbastard is ridiculous. It’s probably CHEAPER for them to process online than by phone.
I realize it’s not 1998 anymore. At that time, I was an annoying punk wearing A&F just like all the annoying punks now.

Ticketmaster sucks! I was at the page where you have to type in the security code at 10:00:03, but the dumb picture didn’t load. Then I tried another one…didn’t load. I tried it 3 more times before I clicked “vision impaired”. That crashed IE and I lost my place in line. The next time I tried to get tickets I could not figure out what the hell the pictures were saying. I have 20-20 vision and I still couldn’t make out the words. Finally I got an easy one that let me get in line only to find out they were sold out. What a crock!
They shouldn’t be allowed to provide tickets if they can’t get their system to work properly. I think Phish should boycott. NO MORE TICKETMASTER!!!

I did requests followed rules, got NONE. Was on ticketmaster at 10am on the dot, had others on as well at 10am on the dot tried for all nights and 3 night package. At 10:05 SOLD OUT!!!! I hate you all that won the pre-sale… not really CONGRATS (well maybe a little hate 🙂 for those who won pre-sale for multipul nights…how does that work!?)! but I really do HATE everyone one bought a bunch of tickets to sell them for 1,000 on e-bay. I guess I’ll just have to hope and pray for a full blown tour.

I almost feel guilty about getting two for each night, ok, so I don’t. My first show was 19 years ago and I am the only one in my family to hook up, I hope that tickets truely end up in good hands, at least these will. Peace.
I”m with all you tickmaster haters. Chris, exactly the same thing happened to me. Stupid security code thingie. It didn’t work, then I couldn’t read it, and by the time I could there were no tickets left.
I was told you couldn’t buy tickets at the retail outlets in NC because it was an out of state concert. My friend was in VA, and went to a retail outlet and wasn’t allowed to get tickets there…What the ……? I don’t even like Phish, and wanted to buy some tickets for my husband. I really hate that all the loyal fans can’t afford to go now, because some people were able to buy them, when they just want to make money. I want to know how Tickets Now were able to advertise loads of tickets just five minutes after the tickets went on sale for ridiculous amounts of money. How does that work? I’m angry for all you fans!!!

I think Ticket Brokers got a big chunk of the tickets, which is why they were on ebay last week. I’m thinking it might be better not to be there. The crowd will be filled with only rich mama’s boys, and no true fans. It’s unfortunate. The fact that people are paying close to $2000 on ebay for tickets to the 3 day event is rediculous and stupid. I also do think that many people who DID get tickets are turning and selling them on ebay. I think everyone knew it would happen. Ticketmaster sucks royal balls. I am disappointed that Phish would go through them on such a huge and important show. F it! And congratulations to those who are paying their life savings to go to a 3 day event. How are you going to feel afterwards? Pretty stupid I bet..oh….and poor..

I hear everyone about the ticketmaster hate. Same thing happened to me with the security word – didn’t display on the page, same with some of my friends. Hoping for a small summer tour!
Surprisingly I got tickets this morning, but only for Friday. After getting rejected for the lottery I was really sweatin’ it. To make it worse I searched for tickets at 10:00 on the dot but got a message that they weren’t on sale yet so I searched again, clicked on Friday then got put in a queue where I had a 4 minute wait, then 3, 2, 1 then back up to 3, 2, 1, but did get them and didn’t have problems with the security code field. It is unfortunate that the ticket brokers and scalpers got their hands on these tickets. I’m just glad that I was able to score as these tickets are in good hands.
So after reading this I had to comment some more and say that this is not the band’s fault. I was thinking back to 1992 when I slept out for Grateful Dead tickets for a 3 day run they were doing at the Philly spectrum and didn’t get them. Yup, before the days of the internet we had to camp out for tickets if we got rejected for mailorder. I went to the lot at 3:00 in the afternoon the day before they went on sale, was the 21st person in line and at 10:20 AM, 20 minutes after they went on sale the person right in front of me was told that they were sold out. My parents can tell you stories of camping out for Springsteen, Dylan, the Grateful Dead, etc, back in the 70’s and getting rejected. It is now, and has always been luck of the draw. I’m not sure where this sense of entitlement comes from. If you didn’t get tickets just go to the lot and try to score, but don’t pay over face value. I still need Saturday and Sunday but won’t pay more than face or anymore than $10 over face. Unfortunately ticketmaster owns the venues so tickets pretty much have to be sold through ticketmaster or other corrupt organizations like Comcast Tixx. Please let’s try to keep this positive. The boys are getting back together. Let’s just be happy with that.
I returned from my honeymoon to hear maybe the second best set of words after “i do”…..”phish reunion”………..my younger brother always wanted to see phish, so we both put in a request…..both got denied….but luckily we asked dear ‘ol dad to request too….and go figure – he scored. It’s a sad state of affairs to see so many phans wanting tickets and the ridiculous price tags on stub hub & e-bay……what’s this world coming to…I thought it was about the music….I for one will not sell my coveted tix for any dollar amount – I’d rather be broke in Hampton than rich at home.
what really sux is that hampton residents aren’t allotted a certain amount of tickets. I have seen phish all across the country, but can’t get a ticket for my home town show. There use to be another band, (no names given) another hot ticket, they also loved Hampton. They use to release tickets to hampton residents first… they even changed there name one year. Just seems fair to me.
I was on ticketmaster 10 mins before 10:00 and kept hitting refresh. I also had 2 others call in to no avail. Online, I went for the 3 days and was able to get in the que; said I had to wait 15 mins, 8, 4, 15, then errored out. I tried again and had problems with the code not displaying as well. Too much money to be made I guess to buy mine for regular price. Tim I hear what you’re saying aobut luck of the draw, but it’s not cool that so many scalpers were able to get pre-tix and not phans. My sister however did score 3 night tix and she’s gonna give me 1 night. I’m thrilled phish is coming, but just not happy with TM and never have been.

First show was April 18, 1991 Oberlin College. been to over 100 shows, my dog Harpua and Tela would be very happy if I got to go to this show… Met my babys mama teaching her Divided Sky on guitar… We where at Coventry, parked and hiked in after the gates where closed because of mud.. I have flights and room already just no tickets.. cant afford the insane over priced stuff because I spent all my money on the ring Im going to use to propose to her at the show.. please help this brother out!!! colt-you should of got a confirmation e-mail from whatever broker you bought them from. they should ship no earlier than a week from the show.I bought one from ticketsnow.com and one from ticketspot.com and they both confirmed to ship around 3/1.

0-3 for Hampton. 0-4 Summer tour. No more playin’ by the rules I guess. Anyone I’ve met who scored tix to anything had 5 – 30 separate requests. Nice to know the ticket company follows their own rules. I miss the old mail order’s myself. Ticketmaster sucks balls. They sell off tickets to “re-sellers” before public onsale. I’m glad to see the boys back together, but I don’t think I’ll ever get a chance to actually “see” them again. Can’t afford the crazy prices on ebay and craigslist, and I refuse to buy from scalpers. WTF?! Kinda wish they stayed broken up at this point. At least then you could actually see them with someone. (OK, so I’m all bummed out about the ticket mess.) Hate this crap. Read about the days of camping out for tickets. I did that too. I think the big difference is that now when you’re denied, you’re by yourself in front of a PC. When I camped out for Hartford, and Worcester shows in 95-97 you were part of a group. People all around you, and it was an experience by itself. Denied or not, you felt part of something larger and had a good time going through it. Those days are dead and gone. Its all INET and Phone now. No donut runs at 4:30am for everyone outside waiting. No group pity parties in the lot afterwards. Ticketmaster does suck balls though. They DO sell chunks of tickets to “brokers” (scalpers) prior to public onsale at a higher price. They do it with all bands. And ALL bands don’t do a thing about it except Pearl Jam. They are the only ones who actually FIGHT them. I’m not even a fan of them, but they have my respect for there efforts. Oh well. Hope everyone gets their tickets. DON’T BUY FROM EBAY, CRAIGSLIST, SCALPERS, BROKERS!!!!! Make them lose their money!!!!!
just sad…thats the state of all this…I can find tickets to these Phish shows EVERYWHERE!!!!! only problem is that they are running $150+…. I know the people did it for a profit, and I suppose I cant blame them for that…but I hope someday this sorta thing gets sorted out and handled with some loyalty on the other end.
