Grace Potter and the Nocturnals teamed up with Higher Ground to present the Grand Point North festival in Burlington’s Waterfront Park on Friday and Saturday. The band helped curate the lineup which featured plenty of HT faves including Dr. Dog, The Avett Brothers, the Sam Roberts Band, Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers, Galactic and the Carolina Chocolate Drops. During the Nocturnals’s set on Saturday, the Vermont natives welcomed one of the state’s most well-known musicians to help out as Phish keyboardist Page McConnell lent a hand on a cover of ZZ Top’s Tush.

Tush has become a staple of the Nocturnals’ live repertoire as the group recorded the cover for 2011′s ZZ Top – A Tribute From Friends tribute album. Phish has tackled the ’70s classic rock staple at least twice in concert back in their early days and later covered the tune during soundchecks. According to Jambands.com, after McConnell left the stage the members of the Nocturnals discussed how many Phish shows they had seen with Potter stating she had attended 40 of the quartet’s concerts.

Here’s a fantastic video of McConnell sitting in on Tush…
