PERPle Rain For PGroove Halloween

HT faves Perpetual Groove always come up with interesting themes for their Halloween shows including “Diamonds Are Forever” last year, the “John Hughes Variety Show” in 2009 and “The Karate Kid” in 2008. Recently, the Athens-based band announced that “PERPle Rain” will be this year’s theme for a Halloween night performance at The Workplay in Birmingham, Alabama. You can expect a slew of Prince covers, lots of glitter and lots of purple on Halloween according to the band.

Two nights ago at The Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, PGroove welcomed Roosevelt Collier of The Lee Boys to add pedal steel to their cover of R.L. Burnside’s It’s Bad You Know and Danny Silver on additional bass for a take on Get Down Tonight by K.C. and the Sunshine Band.

Next up for PGroove is a swing through the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast that includes a stop at Camp Barefoot on Thursday night and a return to NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on Saturday night. Look for a New Year’s Eve announcement while the quartet is in the Big Apple this weekend.
