Phish Announces MSG Pay-Per-View

After nearly two years of unofficial streams from intrepid fans at Phish shows, couch tour has gone legit. Phish has partnered with Nugs Net to offer pay-per-view video broadcasts of the group’s three upcoming shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Dec. 30, 31 and January 1st.

You can purchase a three-day pass for $39.99 or purchase the PPV for each night at a cost of $14.99 for December 30th and January 1st and $19.99 for the New Year’s Eve show. Purchasing all three at the same time saves you 20%.

The question becomes whether this is a one-time deal or whether Phish will offer more pay-per-views in the future. Clearly this webcast is a big test and if things go smoothly – and of course if it’s highly profitable – the band may decide to make webcasts of sold out shows a regular occurrence.

Will you purchase Phish’s first pay-per-view?

  1. I’d purchase this if they let you watch them more then once.
I’d like to watch NYE while I recover on Sunday afternoon.

  2. Just made this Idaho couples’ dream come true 🙂 We had an awesome time at the Miami run but NYC just wasn’t working out for us this year. Now we will have a living room dance party in Boise! Go Phish!

I wondered the exact same thing. I have to think at this price, it will be under mystash like livephish… I hope, also for the price, maybe audio download included?

  4. I’ll buy 1/1 as that is the only one I’ll be able to be around for. Says it’s only a live stream as of now. If I knew they were going to be archived like iClips does I would buy all 3.

  5. I purchase Umphrey’s for Halloween this year and it is worth it for the temporary archive you get included with the purchase. It is kind of lame you can only watch live. I would easily purchase all three if they would archive for at least a month. It’s a game time decision as others have stated. It would be nice if they continue this service for other shows. This Phish fan is about to be a Daddy so my travel plans will slow down at least this summer so I would gladly watch from my living room if available.

  6. I purchased the Umphrey’s shows this past Halloween on Iclips and would say it’s worth the money when you can temporarily archive to watch at your leisure. Being that Phish is not offering the archive I will probably purchase the 30’th since it’s the only night I have no plans. Since I’m a soon to be Daddy I think this is a great service I would like to see used for future shows. My travel plans this summer will be limited but I would definitely hang at the house with my newborn baby boy jamming some live Phish with video any day!

  7. This is AWESOME! As I’ve grown older and had children it’s become next to impossible to enjoy Phish like I used to. I would easily pay 14.99 to watch Phish as my wife and I ring in the new year rather than Dick Clark or whoever the networks bring out from the crypt.

  8. Thank goodness I’m glad the band is doing something for those not able to attend. I was hoping for their own cable network but this works. Now I can sit back sip chimay blue and enjoy the shows.

  9. since I xant make it I will be going out NYE so I may purchase all 3 and see what happens. I think for the price and the date and the fact that people will be going to parties you should have a week to watch them imo. Love the idea though. I dont think they should do every show bc well thats what makes it special. Then everyone can say I heard that sick TTE last night. No you only saw a stream brow. and we all know how certain heads are they will lie and say they have been to every show of the tour never leaving their couch. Just kidding the more phish the better
