UPDATE: Phish confirmed they will perform at the benefit concert on their official website. The post lists ticket prices at $75 with a special “Friend of WaterWheel” package available for $250. The specially priced ticket includes, “preferred parking, a reserved box seat, a limited edition poster and access to a Vermont craft beer tent.” A limited number of tickets are currently on sale via Phish Tickets, ending on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at noon ET. In an effort to assure local Vermonters get tickets, general on-sale tickets will be only sold in-person on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10:00 AM ET. These cash only tickets will be sold at a location to be disclosed this Friday, Sept. 9 on Phish.com, by email update and on local Vermont radio.

Ever since forming on the campus of the University of Vermont in 1983, the members of Phish have become synonymous with the Green Mountain State. Along with Ben and Jerry’s, the band Phish is one of the state’s chief exports. So last weekend, when the remnants of Hurricane Irene caused the worst flooding in Vermont in nearly a century – floods that destroyed covered bridges and important roads – you had to expect Phish would do something to help out.

According to the Burlington Free Press, the town of Essex has put the wheels in motion for a “noise waiver permit” that would allow Phish to perform their first show in Vermont since the infamous Coventry Festival in 2004 when they take the stage at the 10,505-capacity Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction on September 14 to raise funds for victims of the massive flooding.

Phish keyboardist Page McConnell will appear on Burlington TV station WCAX at 6PM to announce more details. We’ll update this post later with those details. Stay tuned!
