Picture Show: Bebe Buell @ Hiro Ballroom

Fashion model and singer Bebe Buell, one of the famed groupies Cameron Crowe based Penny Lane on in Almost Famous, took the stage at the Hiro Ballroom last Wednesday for an impressive performance. Even with Liv Tyler, Bob Gruen and Mick Rock all in attendance at Hiro, Buell was clearly the star of the evening as she debuted material from her latest release Hard Love.

After a heartfelt reading from friend and former Cycle Sluts from Hell lead singer Mary Raffaele, the band (with Hidden Track fave Zac Lasher on keys and Sarah Tomek on drums) ran through a rocking set that recalled much of the new wave and punk sounds of the ’80s New York scene. Next up for Buell is a December 15th gig at Irving Plaza.
