It seems that every band out there is aching to throw a festival of their own and The Heavy Pets are no exception. After two succcessful years, the Pets’ PetZoo Festival 2010 moves to Priedaine in Freehold, NJ for its third year – a private fairground owned by the New Jersey Latvian Society. The site boasts luxury accommodations including amphitheater seating at the outdoor stage, power throughout the camping areas and real bathrooms!
The Heavy Pets first caught our attention playing downstairs from the Disco Biscuits in Atlantic City and boy have they been keeping busy since. From Wakarusa, Nateva and All Good, to helping out at the 10th anniversary moe.down last year, the Florida natives have been bringing their music to the entire country. Yet, even with their constant touring the band still had time to release their self-titled second album earlier this summer.
After starting with only six bands in 2008, this year’s lineup has grown to include everything from reggae with John’s Brown Body, to funk from the London Souls and world beat with Toubab Krewe. Throw in HT Blips artist Newton Crosby and fellow moe.down alumni U-Melt and The Brew and you wind up with two great days of music starting Friday afternoon and going till late Saturday with The Heavy Pets headlining both nights.
Tickets are available online for Friday, Saturday as well as two-day “Weekend Passes” which include camping and parking.
