Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Arctic Blast

It’s hard to believe that the members of the Arctic Monkeys were still teenagers when they released their wise-beyond-their-years sounding debut Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not – a collection of songs about of the boredom of growing up in small town outside of Sheffield, England. So it may have seemed a bit odd when the UK-based band, who marries propulsive punk drumming with a dance-y groove rock, recruited QOSTA front man Josh Homme to help produce their latest effort Humbug.

Homme, who is also a member of Them Crooked Vultures and is best known for his brand of desert-stoner-rock, brought the band out to Joshua Tree to record resulting in a looser almost hazy sound throughout their third full-length. Here’s the band’s new video from the album – Cornerstone…

The Arctic Monkeys recently announced plans for a short North American winter tour, which kicks off in Chicago at the Riviera Theater on Dec. 6.
