Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Bruce Brings Atlantic City to Paris

Let’s continue Classic Rock week on Pullin’ ‘Tubes with the greatest artist to ever come out of New Jersey singing about his home state. Bruce Springsteen wrote Atlantic City about the violence and uncertainty that enveloped the gambling mecca during the late ’70s and early ’80s. Ironically, Bruce threw his ode to Atlantic City on an album named after a different state: Nebraska.

During the Born In The U.S.A. Tour Atlantic City entered the E Street Band’s rotation and hasn’t left. We found a tremendous live version of the tune from a 1985 Born In The U.S.A. Tour gig at Parc De La Courneuve in Paris. Be on the lookout for the glorious false ending, and be sure to check out Clarence Clemons killer job banging a tambourine into a cowbell.
