Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Buffalo Springfield…Again

This past weekend, for the first time in 42 years, the surviving members of the short-lived but much beloved band Buffalo Springfield reunited to perform two sets of music at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit concerts. Joining Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay to fill out the band were CSN drummer Joe Vitale in for the late Dewey Martin and Young’s longtime bassist Rick Rosas replacing the late Bruce Palmer. While reports are still trickling in from the weekend’s festivities, some early reviews have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic about just how good the core trio sounded.

On Saturday night, the band revived their psychedelic blend of country and garage rock with an all-acoustic 11-song set, dusting off selections from their three studio albums that included a number of tunes that had not been played since the mid-1960s. While we wait for some more high-quality videos to hit YouTube, we wanted to share their take of Mr. Soul, the lead track from their 1967 sophomore release Buffalo Springfield Again, which sounds absolutely fantastic…
