Pullin’ ‘Tubes: David Byrne & St. Vincent Burn Down The House – Setlist and Videos From The First Show of Tour

David Byrne and St. Vincent kicked off their Love This Giant Tour on Saturday night at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, Minn., where the pair and a large backing ensemble (12 pieces in all) treated the crowd to a mix from their collaborative album of the same name and songs from their respective catalogs. According to a review from the local Star Tribune, Byrne and St. Vincent “seemed hot to trot, full of cool ideas and nervy enthusiasm as well as some odd ideas and heady intentions that were not well thought out.” Overall, the reviewer thought “it was an encouraging collaboration that will be more rewarding a few weeks and several performances down the road.”

The three Talking Heads tunes the pair picked to include in Saturday’s set were all from top tier of the band’s extremely impressive songbook – This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) , Road To Nowhere and Burning Down The House. The horn-heavy backing band brought a different edge to Burning Down The House as illustrated in this video from Saturday night’s first encore…
